What do people say about you (or rather, your community) when you are not around? And how does that assessment stack up to the things being said about other communities?
If you know the answers to those questions, then you have a good fix on your community’s reputation . . . and its relative value when compared to other cities. In a word, you have a good fix on your brand.
But most communities don’t understand their reputation. Not to mention how their reputation compares to other places. Faced with this question from a number of our clients, North Star’s research department set out to identify a measurement method that is affordable and allows us to compare "apples to apples" even though the communities we work with are so varied.
After a year in development, North Star is proudly introducing "The Brand Barometer."
This tool measures the strength of your community’s reputation by answering the following:
- Resident advocacy for your community as a place to live, to work and to play
- Resident advocacy relative to the nation
This research initiative is valuable for any community including those considering branding, those undergoing the branding process or those currently implementing a brand. (It is even valuable if branding is no where on your horizon.) When conducted periodically, the results create ongoing metrics of perceptions about your community including how well your new brand is impacting those perceptions.
